This area of Andalucia has without a doubt the most agreeable climate in Europe, and the fabled weather of Southern Spain has traditionally been the primary attraction for many visitors.
In the winter months the sun is warm and rainy days are few and far between. Pleasant summer days begin in February and last often late into October. Even at its warmest, a Mediterranean breeze makes this area pleasant and non-oppressive.
Canillas de Aceituno has the added bonus of being located in the foothills of the Sierra Tejeda mountains with the Maroma peak (6744 ft, 2065 m) snow-capped in winter.
During the summer months the weather is virtually guaranteed to be settled with uninterrupted sunshine, and is very hot in July and August.
There are, on average 325 sunny days per year, and an average temperature over 20 °C with “beach days” throughout the year.
