The private swimming pool is a wonderful place to take in the amazing panoramic views across Lake Vinuela, the mountains and the distant Mediterranean.

Situated on a hillside well away from busy roads, the villa is a perfect retreat for those requiring peace and quiet, but with easy access to Canillas de Aceituno village, Velez-Malaga and the coastal resorts. It is fifty minutes driving time from Malaga airport and twenty five minutes to the coast.

Our villa sleeps four people in two bedrooms, one with twin single beds, and one with double bed and en-suite shower room with shower, toilet and basin.

The en-suite bedroom also has a side door out to the terrace and pool area.

There is a fully equipped (utensils, pans, cutlery) kitchen with fridge and gas cooker, and gas water heater for all the hot water. The gas supply is from bottled gas in the kitchen. This needs to be replaced when empty. Our villa has mains water and electricity.

There is a living room, kitchen and a bathroom with bath and shower tap attached, basin and toilet. There is air-conditioning for cooling and heating in the living room and bedrooms (and a wood burning stove for winter use).

The dining table and chairs can be put outside in the shaded area of the front door in sunny weather.

There is also a garden, car parking area and a roof terrace.

Shops, bars and restaurants

The village of Canillas de Aceituno nestles in the nearby hillside, just 5 minutes from our villa by car, or 30 minutes walking. Small shops, restaurants and bars are to be found in unlikely corners of the small village, where friendly local people go about their daily business in a relaxed, unhurried way. There are grocery stores, a bakery, a butcher, a pharmacy, a post office, a bank with cash machine, a public library, bars and telephone boxes.

For more serious shopping, everything you need for your holiday can be bought from the shopping centre, ‘El Ingenio’, on the edge of Velez Malaga, 20 minutes drive from the villa and 30 minutes from Malaga Airport on the way to the villa.  It has an excellent Eroski hypermarket, clothes shops, souvenir shops, jewellery shops, cafés etc, as well as shaded parking.

Many of the towns and villages in the area have outdoor markets. Thursday is market day in Frigiliana, about an hours drive from our villa.

The coast is nearby. This eastern part of the Costa del Sol stretches for 54km to the east of Malaga city, and is less developed than the section on the other side of the provincial capital. From Malaga eastwards the coastline is dominated by the Sierra Almijara mountain range. The inland part of this area east of Malaga city is known as La Axarquia.

This is the lovely secluded beach at Maro, a quiet, picturesque little village just outside Nerja on the old N-340 coast road heading east. Also, just outside the village are the well known Nerja Caves.

This is the beach at Torrox Costa. The Monday morning street market in Torrox Costa is a regular must do. Excellent for clothes, fruit, vegetables, and gifts!

Local activities

There are many walking trails for all types of walkers, direct from our villa door or up out of the village into the Parque Natural. For the most adventurous there is the full days walk up La Maroma (2068m), high above the village.

There’s even a plunge pool  just a few kilometers east of the village, if you dare!
